‘Korsor’ ElderberrySambucus nigra 6-8' x 2-5' Danish cultivar, also called Black-berried Elder. S. nigra is the official medicinal species used in European pharmaceuticals. The berries are extremely high in immune-boosting anthocyanins.
Bred for heavy fruit clusters and excellent juicing quality. You can use them in all of the same wonderful ways you would use the canadensis species. Leaves are broader and darker green than other elderberries and the plant gives off a musky scent when you brush past it.
Upright habit, extremely vigorous. Native to Europe. Ours seem to be just as hardy as the American elders growing in Zone 4 and showed no dieback during the harsh 2014-2015 winter. Z4/5. Maine Grown. (1-3' bare-root plants)
