Yarlington Mill Apple ScionwoodThis is a twig for grafting. Fall. Medium-bittersweet cider apple. Yarlington, near North Cadbury, Somerset, England, 1898. Once common in farm orchards of central Somerset. Steve Wood’s other favorite bittersweet. Highly recommended for commercial plantings. (SG 1052, acidity 2.2g/L, tannin 3.2g/L) Medium-sized yellow conical fruit with a pinkish blush and overspreading darker red stripes. Considered an all-round excellent cider variety: reliable, productive and adaptable to varying conditions. Rich brown low-acid mild lovely aromatic fruity cider, not aggressively tannic. Above-average sugar content. Slow to medium fermentation. You may need to head back the leader in early years to encourage strong laterals. Midseason bloomer. Z4-6.
