Screen Shot Apple Scionwood

This is a twig for grafting. Fall. John Bunker intro, 2015. Horribly bitter fruit guaranteed to jazz up even the dullest cider. One apple has enough phytonutrients to keep the doctors away for months. Medium-sized somewhat ovate fruit is greasy, shiny and somewhat ribbed. Skin color varies from almost entirely deep red to striped red, yellow and orange. Wild seedling discovered during a fruit exploring trip deep into the heart of Somerset County, Maine. I knew I’d found nirvana when I took one bite of this seedling in the fall of 2015. It turned my mouth inside out. Recommended for those who love it bitter. Appears to be annually bearing. Uncertain bloom time. Probably Z4-6.

Additional Information

Scionwood

The deadline for ordering scionwood is February 15, 2019, for shipment around March 11.

We sell scions (scionwood) in two ways.
Each single 8" stick will graft 3 or 4 trees, and comes with a small paper ID label.
Scionwood by the foot (minimum order of 10 feet) will usually graft about 6 or 8 trees from one foot of scionwood.
You can graft right away or store it for later use. Stored properly, it will keep quite well for several weeks.

Scions are twigs, not trees. They have no roots and will not grow if you plant them.
