The adapter/receiver socket works just like a quick-change chuck/sleeve on an impact driver. For best performance and longevity, clean and oil the socket seasonally to prevent gunk buildup and rust. If soil gets jammed in the socket, spray a jet of water in there, and use a stiff wire to free up the dirt. The Maine hardwood handle is embossed with the Fedco logo so you can display your co-op loyalty. We recommend treating the handle with linseed oil every year, for the life of the tool.
