‘Winter Red’ Female Winterberry

‘Winter Red’ Female Winterberry

Ilex verticillata 8x7' Female.

Deciduous suckering medicinal holly with clusters of upright stems. Best known for profusions of bright 3/8" berries that stand out after the leaves fall—they keep their color all winter, spectacular against the snow.

Mid-sized with darker green foliage. We have a cluster of these planted right outside our window to enjoy during the cold snowy months. Berries are larger and much more prolific than wild seedlings. Southern Gentleman male required for fruit.

Native from midwestern to eastern U.S. Z4. (1-3' bare-root plants)
