Fantastic wide dense spreading disheveled shrub with highly ornamental branches that are flat and often curled near the branch tip like the neck of a violin. We cut the reddish-golden surreal stems in winter for dry arrangements: they look great in the vase for years. Yellow catkins in the spring make good pollinator forage. Glossy green summer foliage turns yellow in fall. Makes an impenetrable hedge or low windbreak. Trim it back any time of year. Highly adaptable; you can grow it anywhere. Prefers full sun. Native to Japan. Z4. Maine Grown. (1–2' plugs)
