Ancient seedling tree estimated to be more than 100 years old found in an abandoned orchard in Waldo, ME. The amazing twisted and spiraling form of the trunk continues up into the canopy with a curvy and contorted branch habit. Round blocky medium-large green-skinned fruit, sometimes with a red blush and often a russet stem splash. Turns yellow in winter storage where it keeps well into spring. Intriguing unusual flavor, best for all cooking purposes. DNA profiling recently revealed Tolman Sweet to be a parent. Part of the Maine Heritage Orchard collection and named by Red Sox fanatic John Bunker to honor the famous left-field wall in Boston’s Fenway Park. Blooms midseason. Z4. Maine Grown. (Standard: 3–6' bare-root trees)
