Great Blue LobeliaLobelia syphilitica 3-5' tall. In early spring, this gorgeous North American native forms deep green rosettes, which produce tall green stems with alternate lance-shaped leaves. Blue-violet flower spikes appear midsummer. Don’t deadhead: healthy plants produce several thousand seeds per stem and require damp open ground to germinate well. Plant along the riverbank and streambed, edges of bog, in the perennial border or in the meadow. Absolutely stunning once established.
Best planted in light shade in consistently moist soil, with minimal weed competition the first year. MOFGA-certified organic, grown by Ripley Farm. Z3. Maine Grown. (bare-root crowns)
