Malus spp. Fall. Bittersharp cider apple. Asturias region, northern Spain.

One of the select apples approved by The Regulatory Council of Origin Cider of Asturias (DOP), which governs and curates the production of sidra de Asturias (cider of Asturias). Piel de Sapa means ‘toad skin,’ a fitting description for this large greenish-grey thick- and rough-skinned russeted fruit. Cream-colored flesh is dense, coarse grained, semi-sharp, astringent and aromatic. (SG 1.085, Brix 20)
