‘CD Eason’ Bell Heather

‘CD Eason’ Bell Heather

Erica cinerea 8-10" x 12-24" Maxwell & Beale intro, Dorset, England, 1929, from a wild specimen.

Especially distinct bell-shaped bright magenta flowers begin to show around Mother’s Day with profuse repeat blooms over a long season. Deep green foliage is more fern-like and wispier than heathers with a more mounded mat-like growth habit.

In our trials in central Maine, bell heather offers some of the first early spring bee forage with blossoms hanging on through early snowfall. Same cultural and pruning requirements as heather.

Native to western Europe and the British Isles. Zone 5, but possibly Zone 4 with adequate snow cover. (4" pots)
