Adams Pearmain Apple

Fall. Herefordshire, England, about 1826.

Highly flavored rich juicy spicy aromatic dessert apple. Recommended for fresh eating; also for cider and salads. Medium-sized, conic, deep red to scarlet, striped, and conspicuously dotted and mottled with russet. Yellow-orange flesh. Moderately vigorous spreading tree.

At the annual Stump Sprouts Apple Meeting many years ago, growers were asked to name their favorite varieties. Ike Kerschner of North Star Orchard in Cochranville, PA, raved about Adams. Our scionwood comes from Ike’s trees.

Although it showed no dieback here in Palermo at an impressive –30°, we don’t have a firm sense of how hardy it will be in northern New England. Blooms midseason. Z4. Maine Grown. (Standard: 3-6' bare-root trees)
