buff skin, white fleshThe French call potatoes pommes de terre, which translates literally as “earth-apples”. We envision a parallel mythology in which (with or without the urging of a long-winded snake) earth-mother Eva cheerfully chomps into one of these jewel-like tubers to attain divine gardening knowledge. In real life, Eva was bred by Cornell out of a 1989 Steuben cross and released in 1999. Like the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, this potato is very pleasing to the eye: smooth glossy skin, no hollow heart or internal necrosis, and uniform tuber shape and size. Starchy texture is ideal for baking, mashing, french fries, and homemade potato chips. Safe to feed to your spouse without risking eternal banishment, as long as you keep passing each other the butter. Tolerates a wide variety of soil conditions. The tubers have a very long dormant period and shallow eyes that tend to cluster at one end: plan to green-sprout whole tubers. Good resistance to early blight and scab, and excellent resistance to viruses and golden nematodes. Susceptible to late blight. ①BACK!
