Organic Orcharding Workshop Series

Pruning Fruit Trees & Early Spring Orchard Care:
kicks off 2008 Organic Orcharding Workshop Series on Saturday, March
8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., MOFGA will host fruit tree pruning classes
at three Maine locations. They have lined up top-notch MOFGA experts
to show you “how to”. The Down East class will be in
Blue Hill; Central Mainers will convene in Mt. Vernon; the Portland-Freeport-Brunswick
class will be held in Cumberland Center. The subject matter will
be geared toward beginners and experienced growers. The format will
be hands-on, primarily, although there there will be plenty of time
for discussions and questions. Bring clippers, pruners, saws and
a bag lunch.
Grafting Fruit Trees & Spring Orchard Care:
An all-day, hands-on grafting class with Fedco grafters Tim Seabrook
and Delton Curtis will be held at MOFGA’s Common Ground Education
Center in Unity on April 19.
Organic Orcharding With Michael Phillips:
author of The Apple Grower: A Guide for the Organic Orchardist,
will be held on May 10, also on MOFGA’s grounds.
Bud Grafting, led by Delton Curtis (bud grafter for Fedco
Trees):
teaching this session in Thorndike at the Curtis Pond Nursery on
August 1.
